James Acho

James "Jim" Acho is an American attorney and former editor of Sports Review Magazine.

Acho has gained moderate media attention for his "All Name Team," an annual list that comprises the top 100 names in college football. He compiled his list for 20 seasons before discontinuing it in 2007. Acho's list frequently appeared in The Detroit News and on ESPN. In 2006, Angelique Chengelis, an ESPN reporter, did a piece on Acho's "All Name Team" in The Detroit News and espn.com.[1][2]

Biography

Acho practices law at the law firm of Cummings, McClorey, Davis & Acho. In 2003, he represented Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Prescott Burgess on a disorderly person charge following a brawl at a restaurant.[3][4] From 2004 to 2007, he was one of the attorneys who represented former Major League Baseball players seeking pensions and medical benefits.[5][6]

In 2007, Acho represented University of Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham on a disorderly conduct charge.[7] Acho represented NFL alumni against Gene Upshaw and the NFLPA in a battle over improved pension and medical benefits and appeared on ESPN Radio to discuss Upshaw's death.[8]

In March 2009, Acho was a guest on Sporting News Radio and Fox Sports regarding the new NFLPA President DeMaurice Smith.[9][10]

Personal life

Acho graduated from University of St. Francis in 1993. Acho is married to University of Michigan Associate Athletic Director Shari Acho.[11] American comedians Randy and Jason Sklar almost always make at least one reference to Acho while guest hosting The Jim Rome Show. ESPN's Howie Schwab has also referred to Acho multiple times on Stump the Schwab and ESPN.[12]
